At PEAK elite
Stepping Stones Preschool offers a faith-centered, first school experience that plants in each child a love for learning while creating opportunities for social interaction and intellectual, spiritual, physical and emotional growth. We believe education must be relevant, meaningful, and fun. We strive to build strong a foundation for all future learning and living.
Stepping Stones Environment
Stepping Stones Preschool provides a stimulating and caring environment that encourages curiosity and exploration. A purposeful, fun and hands-on oriented curriculum directs the children to joyfully explore the many facets of our world in a safe and loving classroom.
Our Day
When the children enter the classroom, the teacher will greet them and then the children are given the freedom to explore the various learning activities and interest centers that have been prepared before their arrival.
Interest Centers-
Interest centers are changed from week to week, day to day, and sometimes, hour to hour. There may be paint, sensory tables, clay, science experiments, art projects, building blocks, dramatic play toys, books, puzzles and dolls to love.
Circle Time-
This important part of our day includes carefully selected children’s literature, calendar, songs, graphing activities and sharing time.
Snack Time-
Snacks are provided by preschool families on a rotating basis. This is a special day for the snack person, as they are the line leader, our special helper for the day, and have the opportunity to bring in sharing for group time.
Large Motor Skills-
After a fun time of snacking, we prepare to go outside to play (weather permitting) or go to our indoor gym. Gross motor play contributes to positive physical and mental health by strengthening muscles and helping children release some energy. Self-concepts are enhanced as the children acquire motor skills and experience success and enjoyment. We are very fortunate to have a beautiful play area surrounded by nature, as well as a fun-filled gym, which provides many opportunities to develop your child’s large motor skills and coordination.
Gymnastics Instruction-
Children participate weekly in organized, age-appropriate lessons in gymnastics. Safe and fun gymnastics instruction by our knowledgeable PEAK elite gymnastics staff will include skill development in basic tumbling and basic skills on uneven parallel bars, balance beam, trampoline and vault.
Creative Movement-
PEAK elite gymnastics staff incorporates a creative movement curriculum that provides structure and direction while encouraging children to explore music and movement.
Our day ends with an unwinding time, puzzles, books, hugs and good-byes.
Skippers Class-
The Skippers class is available to 4-year-olds on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 AM to Noon. Students will participate in small group, hands-on learning activities in math, science, art, and language arts. Positive social development is encouraged using cooperative interest centers. The Skippers will also receive instruction in gymnastics and creative movement weekly.
Pebbles Class-
The Pebbles class is available to 3 & 4-year-olds on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 AM to Noon. Our children’s literature inspired curriculum incorporates hands-on activities involving cooking, science, literacy and art which create a culturally rich opportunity for your child. The Pebbles will also receive instruction once a week in either gymnastics or creative movement.
Kindergarten-
Kindergarten at Stepping Stones is open to 5-year-old Monday through Firday from 12:00 to 3:00 pm. Our small class size allows a creative, purposeful, and challenging classroom environment. Core subjects - Language, Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies are strongly emphassized, along with Spanish, Art, and Physical Education (includes gymnastics twice a week). Monthly field trips extend our learning environment and enhance all aread of our studies. Your child's day will be full of activity, imagination, and wonder while they are fully engaged in learning.
